Brushing with a toothpaste that contains Stanous Flouride can also cause dark staining of teeth on some individuals.
i have these stains on a couple if my terth but dont have enough enamsl to endure whitening. is this something that can be scrubbed off during a 6 month checkup? i am also noticing i the same areas sharp little places, sometimes with miniscule holes i can only feel woth my tongue, on these teeth. theyre the ones on the bityom a few from the back that almost look like they could be two tereth fused together. the sharpness with little cracks and the blackness in the crevaces out of nowhere is quite alarming....
Hi, thanks for the replies. I do not smoke or drink coffee. However, I do drink tea occasionally so maybe that's what did it. But could it be the tea because I have been drinking tea since I was a kid and these stains are just now showing up?
Most likely it is stain. Smoking is one of the main factors for this typical stain. Dont panic, If you regularly floss i doubt your oral hygiene is that bad to cause multiple cavities of this type. You will need to require a prophylaxis session. It will only take 5 min to remove that stain. Sometimes the stain could be intrinsic embedded in your teeth structure. In that case you will have to get a teeth whitening treatment done.
Faq's section here http://*********.**/faqs will answer your questions about teeth whitening solutions on intrinsic and extrinsic stains. I believe its the last question.
Good luck
Hello,
I just noticed your post while looking for some dental info. I did the same thing as you (4-5 years) and so have many others so don't feel too bad. The important thing is to take care of it now.
I'm not a dentist, but my guess is the lines are stains from food, drink or smoking. I don't smoke but I do drink a fair amount of coffee and tea. I have my teeth cleaned three times per year now and floss and use "go between" brushes faithfully. In spite of this I still get a little staining that they have to scrape off. The thing about stains is that the more time passes by, the faster they seem to accumulate. You want to get rid of the staining because they encourage tartar development.
I hope your appointment goes well.
