Bulimia Teeth are giving me extreme anxiety

I am suffering the intense effects of having bulimia for almost ten years. Though I have stopped entirely late last year, my teeth are becoming more and more frail and more and more painful. My two front teeth are always throbbing and they appear translucent. They are also thin and sharp. I'm constantly touching them and they are painful to touch.  My bottoms are starting to hurt more and more. My teeth are constantly on my mind and the root of my severe anxiety. I'm only 25 years old and I'm just waiting any day for my teeth to just break off.

It gets worse. My job doesn't offer benefits and I'm low-income. I'm doomed. I am expecting to have to pay thousands of dollars for the repair and I just can't afford it. Is there anything I can do? I live in BC.

I found some reduced cost clinics in BC. Looks like the first one is free if you qualify as low income.

With vomiting, the acid in the vomit has damaged the enamel on your teeth.

There may be roots exposed and possibly tooth decay.

If your gums are not healthy, that will be painful and can loosen the tooth roots and eventually the teeth will just fall out.

I suggest you buy the toothpaste for sensitive teeth.  There are so many toothpastes available now, so look for the ones that will help strengthen the enamel as well as help with sensitivity.

Buy some floss and floss in between your teeth every day, preferably twice a day.  The gums will bleed, but with continued flossing, the gums will get healthier and much stronger.

Find a dentistry college near you.  They are always look for volunteers to train on and are supervised.  I do not know if they charge or if the work is done for free, but enquire.  This will be your cheapest option.

Don't drink fruit juices and sugary drinks, they will cause more damage to your teeth.  Never brush your teeth after you have had a juice drink.
Fruit juices (the natural ones) because they are acidic will soften the enamel on your teeth and with brushing this will damage the enamel even more.

There is nothing much more you can do unfortunately.  Once the enamel on the teeth is destroyed it will not get back to how it should be - sorry.

Hi there,

I'm so sorry you're suffering with this. I am recovered from bulimia and I empathize with you. Would you mind if I copied and pasted your question to some professionals I know? Let me know. Thank you. :)
