Bump on gums after wisdom tooth removal

by Michelle108, Jan 31, 2009 03:10PM
I had all four wisdom teeth removed 2 weeks ago and I just noticed two bumps underneath my gums.  The bumps are hard and feel like a piece of a rock is stuck under the gums.  One bump is located just beneath the gumline of my bottom back molar tooth on the right side of my face and it seems to be underneath the gums. The other bump is located under the gums around my top back molar tooth also on the right side of my face.  I am away at college so I have to wait at least another week to see my dentist but is this something I should be worried about?

The bumps may be the bone underneath the extraction socket.  It may be that you never touched the area earlier because of the pain after the extractions and are now noticing the bone underneath.  As long as there isn't any pain and the bumps don't get larger, I wouldn't worry about it too much.  Any other unusual symptoms at all?  With two weeks pass since the extraction, I highly doubt its an infection but its possible if there are other unusual signs or symptoms.
