Burning Feeling and Braces

Burning Feeling and Braces

I got my full set of braces on friday morning.  I'm almost through all the soreness and pain from having them on but now the feeling is changing.

The inside of my cheeks and the tip of my tongue feel like they are burning and are uncomfortable.  I am starting to get sores on the inside of cheeks from rubbing at the back (I have a very small month and everything is very tight around the back bracket) which I understand, but the burning I think is a little weird.  My hard palate also is very itchy on the roof of my mouth.

I also started swelling quite a bit and look like a chipmunk (I'm pretty sure I'm the only one that really notices the swelling though).  There isn't really any one spot that is rubbing, just overall discomfort.  I have had braces on twice before but the first time was only front 4-6 teeths (I have 6-10 years old) and the second was only the top at age 13.  So both times I didn't have brackets on my 12 year old molars (weren't fully in for the second time) and they are soooo close to the tissue and muscle at the back of my mouth.  Thanks!

So I was wondering if anyone else remembers this happening with their braces and how long it takes for your cheeks to toughen up and stop burning.
