Burning on gums and tongue x 6 weeks straight

by careyb112, Aug 05, 2006 12:00AM
For 6 or more weeks I have had a horrible burning in my mouth.  It started on one spot on the front side of my tongue and it eventually spread across and into the palate and gum area.  Some days are worse than others, but none are pain free. The top of my palate has little bumps and also down the back side of my mouth.  I also get what appears to be some kind of cankers or oral ulcers.  They start as a small white spot and then it gets bigger and bigger each day.  I have had blood counts done, only by WBC was low, colonoscopy to check for cilliac spree, negative, endoscopy to check for chrons disease, negative, swabs for thrush and bacteria, negative.  I can't take this any more.  Please tell me what I can do to get an accurate answer.  My ENT says that it is just geographical tongue, but everything I read about geographic tongue says that it doesn't hurt.  This burns, and no one will listen!!!!

I think you should consult an oral pathologist. They are usually associated with a dental school or a teaching hospital.

Been in your shoes also  go on line and look up glosssodynia also known as burning mouth syndrome I suffered for almost four years constant round the clock 24 hour a day pain I finally told my doctor that I no longer felt like Iws living I was existing. I did all of my blood work and they have come up with epstein bars and lupus and some how thses are all related but it all started with ddental work It was so frustrating and It was actually the town doctor that finally helped me  not the dentists and there were alot of them they alll just shook there heads and said I don;t know what to to tell you everything looks fine. there is a light at the end of the tunnel I promise  I am on Zanax right now we don't know why it is working for pain but I am not going to question it
