Could tooth pain and root canals be related to sinuses?

In 10/07, I started having severe sensitivity in tooth #4.  I had a root canal on that tooth in 11/07.  The pain never went away and continued getting worse until I went back in 4/08.  At that time, my regular dentist determined that the newer dentist who did the original root canal had not done it well, so he redid the root canal on #4.  Both times, x-rays showed infection present and I was given antibiotics.  I STILL had pain into June and visited an endodontist who said that #4 looked fine, but that #5 needed a root canal.  I went back to my dentist and had the root canal on #5 and had more antibiotics because there was more infection.  Since then, all had been fine until about a week ago.

The pain I experience radiates from my tooth and jaw up into my cheekbone area under my eye.  I've never had any sinus issues, so when the endo asked if I had sinus problems, I said no.  My asthma/allergy doc tapped on my face and I had severe pain and he saw drainage indicative of a sinus infection and saw that I have a deviated septum.  This was a month ago and it was complete news to me.  He wanted to do a head CT but first we tried Nasacort and doing a sinus rinse daily to see if that would help.  It has not so I'm going back tomorrow.

Could an untreated sinus infection or other sinus problem lead to tooth pain and the need for a root canal, or in my case, several root canals?
