Cracked #3 tooth today-crown it or pull it?

Earlier today I cracked my #3 tooth, the (one that is normally the) third tooth from the back on the upper right. The right front quadrant cracked away-just barely.

I am missing a total of 8 teeth. Those are numbers 1, 2, 15, 16, 17, 18, 31, 32. So the #3 tooth I cracked is currently the back tooth on the upper right with no teeth to the rear of it. The #30 tooth, directly below #3, has a gold crown on it and there are no teeth to the rear of it.

I am 61 years old and generally I'm in good physical condition and the rest of my teeth are in good condition.

My questions are:

1) Should I spend the (maybe) $1000.00 on a gold crown for it or just get it pulled?

2) Is there any down side to just getting it pulled?

3) Can it be repaired in any way?

Many thanks.
