Crown choice & Galvanic shock

Crown choice & Galvanic shock

I need to get a crown on tooth #3 due to RCT and extensive decay (I'm also facing CL surgery).
I was going to get a porcelein-fused-to-gold crown, with porcelein just on the outside surface, since the biting surface isn't normally visible and I understand gold is better for the opposing tooth, strong etc.

I'm concerned because the opposing tooth has an amalgam filling - am I risking galvanic shock requiring replacement of the filling?  If the occlusal surface is also covered in porcelein, does that take care of the problem or can the current transmit through the procelein?  Should I just get an all-procelein crown?

As far as I know, only if the two surfaces coming in contact may cause a galvanic shock, but not everyone gets it to begin with.  A porcelain fused to gold crown should be acceptable as long as the gold surface doesn't touch the amalgam.  If you do start having galvanic shock even with a porcelain covering, then replacing the amalgam may be needed.
