Crowns causing root infections/absess??

Crowns causing root infections/absess??

I used to have a partial plate for three of my teeth on the top.  I was tired of having that plate in my mouth.  With technology today, there are many type of dental procedures that can be done.  So, within the past two years, I have my top set of teeth replaced with bridges.  Since then, I have had nothing but trouble.  Lots of pain and sensitivity.  I had a tooth become absess (abscess) within 6 months of having the bridge put on.  Since July of this year I have had severe pain in my left cheek.  This pain caused throbbing pain in my temple, cheek, and jaw.  I have had x-rays at the dental office and nothing shows up.  I have a neurologist and my family doctor trying to find out what is going on.  Recently my face started swelling and now I can't get the pain to go away, even with pain killers.  I went to the dentist this morning and found out that two of my teeth now have infection and inflamation (inflammation) at the root.  Choices are ... root canal or having both pulled.  That is the history behind my dental problems.  My question is...can a person be allergic to the material that a crown is made up of?  Can my roots be getting damaged because of the way the bridge work was completed?  Anyone had the same problem and if so, what have they done to correct it?

Well, It wouldn't do anything until the infection heals. You can get the tooth prepared for a crown and have the temporary crown placed, but one could wait to get the permanent one cemented until things calm down. A crown that moves up and down sounds like it is not fitted or seated properly. If it is indeed moving up and down it could have allowed debris to gather underneath it and that may be causing the infection or the up and down movement is irritating the gum tissue and that is what is causing it. If the endodontist finds nothing wrong with the nerve then I would suspect the crown itself and just have it removed to see if your symptoms subside after a few days.
