David's Teeth

My 3 year grandson has no enamal on his baby teeth.   The dentist is baffeled as to the cause.  He has had to have 3 teeth pulled.  He had (I believe) an enamal coating put on all his teeth to help protect them from further decay.  This treatment has only eleviated the problem for a short time.  The dentist is now suggesting to cap all of his teeth.  This sounds like such a drastic move for such a young boy,  do you have any suggestions I can give to the parents.

When my grandson was born, he had to stay in the neonatal unit for three weeks, the doctors had to treat the fluid in his lungs, along with giving him oxygen.  Could this be a reason for this problem?

Any suggestions you can give me would be a great help

Im jewels 23 about to be 24. I was born with this condition for all of my teeth but sadly it does not go away my little brother was born with it in a regular case wich is a set of 4 teeth at a time. The thing about this it did follow me to my adult years but the good thing is that it is fix able.sort of. when i was 5 i started getting all of them covered with fuji9 then they told me that since it did follow me to my adult time after all my teeth fell out and came back in that it was something that i had to get done with a perclineeres. but i ran out of my denali kid care and now all i ever get is its not an emergency so it will cost a lot of money i dont have im a mother now and my child dont have any signs of this they told me that it was mostly in the male genitics.and that sometimes that it does skip generations. but now my teeth have gotten bad becuse of the decay from no enamal. but im just looking for a dentist in alaska that can actually help and not have me spend an arm and leg for the help. but as for my brother his teel are coming in fine but they are still very soft and fragil. so its just cases like mine that stick for all my teeth. but just so everyone knows that it doesnt mean that their child is any different im still very much mentally well just not very good at spelling :) if i confused anyone my email ***@****

I've never heard of this.  But, if he was premature...which I'm guessing from the neonatal unit and the lung problems...that could be the cause...it probably wasn't the medicine though.  I don't know if I would go as far as to capping all of his teeth, considering that they will fall out and he will get permanent teeth.  If the coating works out okay I would consider trying to make that work until the permanent teeth come in.  Because more than likely the permanent teeth will come in and be fine.
