Denatl nightmare

Denatl nightmare

I had signed up with a new dentist closer to home (Smilecare). After several visits between my son and I. The dentist told me she needed to re-do an old filling of mine (tooth #30). She said in order to do that she needed to do an onlay for tooth #29 and #30.  My first visit was the prep and mold.  After this visit I had alot of pain and sensitivity.  My second visit the onlay's were to be put in place but first the temps had to be removed.  Well, after having the dental asst tug and pull in my mouth to et them out, I was literally in tears. So I asked if they could inject that area to numb the pain.  The issue was tooth #30.  After finally getting the temp out, the dentist prepared to place in onlay for tooth #30.  I still felt pain but not as bad, more pressurePressure ulcerthan anything. I felt it very odd that she kept trying to put it in and take it out. And resurfacing the onlay itself.  Once she put the onlay in, I had to get an x-ray.  The dentist determined she would have to re-do it because there was space between my onlay and tooth surface.  OMG!!! Are you kidding me.  Not to mention the dentist was rude to the staff and complaining about the front office..

Well, after going home and the novacaine wore off I was in so much pain.  My entire right side would be in pain; lower jaw and my ear. Advil seemed to reduce the pain, but was only a band-aid.  I was suppose to go back in, but having gone through that experience that I have NEVER experienced in all my dental years. I decided to find a new dentist since my open enrollment was beginning and I had just started a new job.

Do I face a chance in small claims? I feel I was misdiagnosed and now have a crown thru another dentist. I'm fine now.

I'm not sure.  There's always a possibility that any deep fillings and re-treatment of teeth can cause problems with the pulp (nerve) of the tooth.  I would suggest you contact the original office and see if you can work something out.  If not, you may want to consider contacting your local dental society for advice or consult a lawyer.
