Dental Extraction and Bone Graft on #30 molar

I had a single dental extraction and bone graft performed on Thursday, March 13th after two bad root canals and a bad crown that wasn't sealed on properly by another dentist.  He also scraped away alot of infection due to the crown and root canals being "bad."   It's now Tuesday the 18th (5 and 1 half days after) and my pain has increased.  My periodontist is wonderful - he even saw me today after I called worried about the pain and throbbing I'm still having.  I'm taking hydrocodone every 4-5 hours and ibuprofen every 6 hours, amoxicillin 3x/day and an oral mouth rinse 3x/day.  He says everything looks like it's healing well, but I can't stand the pain!  I go back again Thursday and he said he would give me something stronger if I"m still in pain.  Has anyone else had any issues with this?  I can't sleep, I can't talk long without pain, and I've been in bed most of the 5 days after surgery.  Thankfully, I'm not working right now.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!  I just went to see my periodontist today and he actually prescribed that for me.  He said everything looks good and no sign of infection but he wanted to treat it aggressively b/c I shouldn't be having as much pain as I am now.  Hoping this helps!
