Dental Practice Universal Precautions

Hello Doctor,
I would appreciate your help. Can you tell me if the handpiece that sprays the water into your mouth during a cleaning (not the one that suctions out) is disinfected between each client. Is this routine procedure following universal precautions? I thank you for your help in advance.

The handpiece itself which is used to clean teeth is cleaned with a spray, wipe, spray technique to clean the handle of the instrument.  The tip that is used to knock off the plaque and calculus is sterilized in an autoclave unit which basically kills everything on it so the tip is clean.  Does that make sense?

If you're talking about the drill, the entire drill is oiled and sterilized between each use.
