Dental crown pain

Dental crown pain

I have had a crown in place for about 8 months now with no problems. I have just been for my dental check up and have had an xray done on the crown I am now experiencing pain and sensitivity whilst chewing. Could you please advise. Thanks in advance.

It could be a number of possibilities. The crown could be loose, the nerve is inflamed and may need root canal therapy, the bite maybe off which is causing the discomfort to chewing. I am more inclined to think that it is the nerve that is acting up. An x-ray may show the need for rct but not necessarily so. If the pain persists or gets worse then some type of definitive treatment is necessary.
