Discoloured gum

My daughter aged 12. Her gum is black in colour from her little age. I think it's abnormal. What is the cause?
If any professionals could help me find out a solution for this symptom please.

Hi,
It may be that there is tarter that has collected around your daughter's gumline and pushed below it.  If left there, it does turn black.  A good cleaning will rid her of that problem and keep her from getting gingivitis.

If it is not tarter collection, she should be evaluated to see exactly what it is.
Please make an appt with your dentist.  He/she is the only one that can give you a definitive answer.

i agree with gellia get her checked out to make sure it nothing more serious like a cyst or abcess (abscess)
