Dry Drowning

Dry Drowning

Hello my name is Elijah and I have a question about dry drowning. I read on the internet that you can get dry drowning by haveing your teeth getting cleaned as in you know when you go to the dentist to get your teeth clean for your check up and they put all that water in your mouth and then you use that straw which vacuums the water out of your mouth. And when the dentist tells you to close your mouth while the straw is in your mouth that vacuums up the water for the water in your mouth to be vacuum up more quickley They say that you can get dry drowning from doing that is that true?

I've never heard of the term dry drowning.  I assume its a lack of oxygen such as drowning but without any liquids.  I have never heard of any patients suffering from dry drowning from a dental suction.  If there was that much discomfort and problems with the suction, I would imagine all you need to do is open your mouth and get more oxygen.
