Dry Socket

by linsmeiea, Sep 04, 2009 02:51PM
I had my wisdom teeth out monday, and was diagnosed with a 2 dry sockets on my lower jaw on wednesday because food was in the holes. It is now friday and they took the medicated dressings out. Is it possible to hurt the area with a syringe if I put too much pressure on it when cleaning? Is the worst I can do is get food stuck in the sockets again? Is there anything else I should watch out for?

The most important things is to gently keep the socket clean and not to disturb the blood clot or anything else in the socket.  The area should close up by itself gradually.  As long as the clot is present, you should be fine.
