Dry socket how long will this pain last

by j178, Jun 11, 2009 05:57AM
I have developed dry socket after having my lower wisdom teth removed even though I followed all the post surgery advice. the area has been stitched but I still managed to develop dry socket. what I want to know is I had the wound packed with some herbal stuff as well as antibiotics and 2 sets of painkillers that I am taking this happened on Monday now it's Thursday and although the pain has lessened it is still very painful should I still have this pain? no-one has told me to go back to the dentist to get it repacked or anything do I need to go back or is this pain normal?

You need to go back to your dentist who did the surgery.  They will pack a medicated gauze in the area, which will relieve the pain in a matter of minutes.  You may need to return a few more times during the next couple weeks to get the gauze repacked, until the problem resolves.
