Elmiron and dental work

I was all set to get dental work at dentist Wednesday morning, and remembered to tell my dentist I had been taking Elmiron (for recurrent bladder infections for 2 months and it is helping very much)- seconds away from getting Novacain. Dr stopped the procedures planned crown and filling saying I couldn't even have the Novacain injection until he spoke with my urologist about how long I should withhold Elmiron before getting dental work. I had withheld it on my own for mon tues wed. well it's thursday eve and the dr still has not returned the call to my dentist- Don't know anywhere else to find this info. I am rescheduled now for Tuesday afternoon. Is 48 hours enough? one week? I hate to go a whole week without taking it, but I will.
