Assuming you are referring to fissured, hypertrophicHypertrophic cardiomyopathytongueTongue tie. Fissured tongue is generally asymptomatic and associated with geographic tongue. Hypertrophic tongue may be associated with metabolic disturbance, in which condition medical evaluation is essential. Biting trauma on lateral border of tongue may be associated with bruxism or sharp edges of lingual cusps of posterior teeth. If lingual surfaces of lower posterior teeth are sharp, smoothing the surface may help. Seeing an oral medicine specialist is advised.
