Facial Numbness and Tingling

I have dental implant posts put in my lower left of mouth. My oral surgeon gave me a shot of novacaine and it sent a jolt through me.  Now I have numbness in my left lower lip, chin and jaw.  He assured me that he didn't hit the nerve as there would have been blood but he came close to it.  This along with the swelling is causing the nerve numbness but that he feels 92%, nice # huh?, that I will get the feeling back since I get tingling, burning and sometimes spear like jolts go through it.  What are my chances of gaining the normal feelings back in my face?
