Facial swelling, pain

Facial swelling, pain

I went to dentist last week and had fillings put in 3 back molars. I am 37 and never had a filling before. He said the teeth werent bad but just some minor tooth decay starting and otherwise my mouth/teeth were in very excellent shape. Never having a filling before I didnt know what to expect. Since the numbing meds wore off I have been in excruiating pain and 2 days later woke up to a completely swollen mouth and face. Every tooth in my mouth hurts, I cant chew or even drink, my gums are all severely swollen as well as my face and neck and also swollen glands. I saw my family doctor, he prescribed an antiviral and also tetracycline (penicillin allergy), and I am taking vicodin every 4 hrs and still hurt. Monday will be a week since I started the medicine and I am no better. Could it be a sensivity to the fillings?? He used the amagram for the fillings Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It could possibly be a sensitivity to the amalgam fillings.  You may have an allergy to the material which is very rare.  You should consult your dentist and possibly consider removing the amalgams if no other cause can be found for the symptoms you have described.  He/she may replace the fillings with something temporary and see how the area responds.  If it gets better, you may need to get "white" fillings instead of amalgam ones.

I wouldn't get amalgam fillings anyway.  Toxic mercury is in them.
Mercury + Brain + organs =  damage
