Filling Complications

I had 3 cavities filled last friday. They were filled with the tooth-colored fillings. I have had problems opening my mouth. My teeth don't close correctly. I had pain in two of the teeth. Then, a tiny piece fell out today. I have a dental appointment for tomorrow. Any ideas on what could be wrong?

Which teeth were they?  Did you get a shot?

Sounds to me like they messed up your jaw for one thing.

I went back yesterday. They said that the jaw pain is normal and should go away after a week?? I did have shots to numb it the first time. I'm not sure the very far back ones on my bottom on both sides and top left back one. My jaw still doesn't open all the way without hurting some kind of bad. Thanks for anyhelp you can give.

I just had three fillings replaced in my two back left bottom teeth last week.  I don't usually get a shot, and it burned and hurt while he was injecting the novocaine.  When he first stuck the needle in, we both jumped--I thought he'd hit my bone.  Last Monday, I went back in, and he told me he thinks the needle touched the nerve.

He gave me tylenol3.  He might as well have given me pez.  He told me to use warm comresses, which are nice for a few seconds, then it hurts worse.  His nurse did a follow up call and said that the heat was to help get the novocaine out of the area???

If yours hit a nerve and you are getting better, then that's really good, because nerves usually take a long time to heal.  Maybe you were still partly numb?--the dentist said if you are allergic, the numbness can last longer than normal.  Maybe you had a bruise???  It's definitely not normal to hurt that long, unless it's normal for your dentist to hurt people.  :)

It's not really getting better but I think it's been a week tomorrow and it's no better than it was the day after they did it. It did burn and hurt when he injected it. It wasn't still partly numb because i could feel it all the next day and it was hurting severely. Should I call back Monday if it is no better?

You should call back as soon as you are ready, because you should not be in that much pain after a week.  When you go back, have them schedule you a follow up visit for a week or so later.

I just went back Thursday and got a steroid pack.  It helped A LOT.  The dose tapers off, so I'm feeling some pain as that happens.  I'm scheduled to go back Wednesday to see how things stand.  I may need another pack of steroids, but they are so much better than  trying to use pain killers.

I have been feeling a little better each day. I can almost open my mouth all the way without pain. I have been noticing some popping sounds on my left side of my jaw. Could they have hit my jaw bones with the shots?

I don't think they would have hit your bone, but with the popping, you might want to have them do a panoramic x-ray to rule out TMJ.  (My dentist just had me do one to make sure that wasn't the source of my pain.)  They probably had your mouth jacked wide open for so long, it could have aggravated an unknown jaw problem.   Good luck!
