Fosomax side effects in mouth

by Reggie6, May 07, 2008 09:34PM
I have been taking Fosomax since Nov.'04 until Nov.'07, when I was found to have dental cavities, these were
corrected by taking antibiotics 1 hour prior to treatment.   My dentist now considers I need dentures, both left
and right upper areas. I have discussed this issue with Dr. Redmayne, Wyong Dental Clinic,N.S.W. and he has
advised against dentures after having been on Fosomax. I am wondering if there is a time lapse of safety when
dentures could be fitted. I am at the stage now where I have to consider the food I can eat without fear of damage to my existing teeth as repairs are almost beyond my means. I am 72 years, and in reasonable health, with my fosomax
having been replaced by Evista . Hoping you can advise me on a further safe course of treatment and denture options.

                                                                                                                  Regards,   Reggie6.

If you need extraction or other surgical interventions, consultation with your primary physician is advised. If you do'nt have Paget's disease or growth hormone problem, such as acromegaly , your jaw bone is relatively stable, there is no contraindication of removable partial denture. Even you have above medical conditions, fabrication of removable partial denture is still manageble.
