Geographical Tongue?

I've had this small red patch on my tongue (about 1cm in diamter) for about 2-3 days now. It's very irritating to eat, it causes discomfort when food rubs on it, like a sting. It looks exactly like geographical tongue but without the faint white lining and i think it's a bit more red than theaverage geographical tongue. Moving my tongue and tensing my tongue hurts as well(it hurts the spot only). I had my wisdom teeth removed a few days ago and i've been using Colgate Savacol Antiseptic mouthwash to clean my mouth and i have a feeling the burning sensation caused this red patch on my tongue but i'm not sure. Is it geographical tongue?

You would need to provide a picture for people to see.  There can be lots of things that look like a red patch.  You should call the doctor that extracted your wisdom teeth and have him look at it if its something that happened recently.

I have geographic tongue- it usually comes from citus acid for me (pineapple and oranges).  I get a bad reactions and its more during pregnancy also.  I know EXACTLY what you're going through and theres nothing that can be done.  Another thing that can aggravate your tongue are fillings.  Where you have a filling placed, it can react more and give you that pain.  Its just weird what it is and what it can do to us.
