Growing painful lump above faulty crowns

by Nikki906, Aug 05, 2009 09:51PM
Ive been to the dentist and basically they have told me the crowne that was placed was a bad crowne and its leeking.  The root was not completly taken out.   Well ive waited as long as I can because its so very expensive and dont want my teeth pulled.     The lump is HUGE its growing an very painful.  I know i need to go back to the dentist but do you think this is something serious will i need surgery or something major.  Can this infection harm me besides the pain?   Thanks

My guess is that you're developing an abscess.  It is quite dangerous to have an abscess present and not take care of it.  It could result in a life threatening situation so I would definitely address the issue right away.

In regards to treatment, it may need a root canal or be removed.
