Gum bleeding and spot under tongue

by justchecking, Apr 21, 2005 12:00AM
I am 25yrs old male and since couple months ago everytime I brush my teeth it would bleed. I am a constant smoker, and was wondering if that would have anything to do with it. I also noticed the other day under my tongue a white bump, it looks and feels like a bone near the bottom from teeth, was wondering if that is normal or should i be worried about anything.
  Thank you so much,

Their is no question that there is a direct link between smoking and periodontal (gum) disease and smoking. Numerous studies have indicated such. Also oral cancer has been directly to smoking and other tobacco products in the mouth.I would suggest that you see your dentist or an oral surgeon.

Well, I probably dont need to tell you that smoking is defintnely not good for your gums or teeth.

1. I would go see your dentist as soon as poosbile if your gums are persistanly bleeding as it is indicitive of gingivitis or periodontal disease.

2. You need to brush at least twice a day and floss at least once a day, preferably before going to bed.

3. I would also add rinsing your mouth with listerine once in the morning and again at night after brushing and flossing..

I cant really comment on the bump on your tongue though, perhaps the dentist can shed some light as to what it is...
