Gum disease?

by Alias Lola, Sep 07, 2005 12:00AM
Dr., can someone have gum disease/receding gums in the absence of bleeding gums?

Thanks so much in advance.

Usually one of the tell tale symptoms of periodontal disease is inflammation of the gingiva(Gums) this manifests itself with bleeding and redness of the gums.If your gums do not bleed then it is possible that you don't have the disease process. It is possible to have normal recession of the gums with age and not have perio problems. To ease your mind consult a periodontist .
