Has anyone here experienced dead jaw?

Hi all,

I'm new to the boards here, and looking for information on osteocronosis of the jaw. This condition is also known as dead jaw and may be linked to osteoporosis meds. What I'm wondering, has anyone here experienced this? If so what are the symptoms you first noticed. I'm a freelance writer, and I'd like to be able to include real stories of real people in an article I'm writing rather than just list a bunch of boring statistics no one really cares about unless their connected to a real person.

I'm writing on behalf of my sister.  She is 75 years old and has had 2 one year IV injections of Reclast.  Prior to that she had Iv's every 3 months of Boniva.  She now has all the signs of Osteocrinosis. She has had extractions, very slow to heal and now what appears to be 2 bone points growing out below the gum line. She was never warned about this possibility; not by the rheumatologist who admistered the IVs nor the oral surgeon who did the extractions.  She is extremely fearful of losing her jaw bone entirely.  Would like to know if others have had this problem, who a dental specialist would be and if anyone has taken legal action against, I believe Novartis who manufactures Reclast.
