Hematoma

I had six impacted wisdom teeth removed over a week ago. I've been having a lot of complications during recovery. I believe I have one dry socket which is being treated with medicated packings. However, today when I visited the oral surgeon, I pointed out a hard bruise on the side of my face. I was informed it was a hematoma and was given antibiotics. Is this normal after a difficult tooth extraction? Can I expect the antibiotics to cure the hematoma and if not, then what will happen?

Hematoma generally resorbs in 2-4 weeks without any intervention.
