Just an update, this was time consuming. Both old crowns are now off and 2 temps are on. It took about 3+ hours due to complications, specifically an incorrect bite and the fact that any buildup I had from my old dentist basically came out due to the weak material he used. Unfortunately, an impression could not be done due to the fact that my gums were bleeding a lot (always have my entire life) so my dentist sent me on my way to let me heal and come back for impressions.
As it is, my old crowns had no traces of anything my dentist told me it had.. no titanium, no palladium and very very little gold. I was told it was just more then likely the same material used under standard porcealin crowns. 2 more appts to go!
No root canal will be needed, at least not on tooth #30 which already had one. This is what I expect. I'm guessing my dentist booked the extra hour in case any complications arise. The crowns were not from him originally... can't wait to get this ugly looking metal out of my mouth!
Hi, just having a crown removed and making a new impression should not take more than an hour or even 45 minuits. Its time consuming when they have to do a root canal then the crown.
