How long till amoxicillan works on gums

Well I have been on amoixicillan 500mg for five days. I have been in pain for a while and it is day five and I still have a small bump on my gum right above my teeth. How long until the full infection goes away. I am petrified as I have had this infection come and go for a while and the pain only increases. I'm due to have three teeth removed on Thursday. Then six root canals done a week or so after that. I honestly don't want to be in pain no more as I am a mom to two young kids one under two months old. I have been hospitalized before for this and don't think I can go through it again. So my question is will this kick out the infection or is it not working?

Hello, are you sure you are taking the right dosage of amoxicillin and it's frequency? Infections may re-occur if the correct dosage and frequency is not followed. Try to visit again your dentist to have a right assessment of the situation.

Elimination of source of infection is essential in order to cure dental infection. Seeing a dentist to render appropriate treatment is advised. Antibiotic therapy is only adjunct therapy.
