I don't know what is wrong with my tooth

About a month ago, my front bottom tooth became sensitive to cold drinks. Not really thinking much of it, I ignored it. The tooth steady became discolored and now has a 'shadow' on it. Around 2 days ago, my tooth became extremely sensitive to cold things, not just drinks, but cold food as well, for example vegetables just out of the refrigerator. The sharp pain that comes with it eating cold things, is what is really worrying me, also, the pain/sensitivity lasts about 15 seconds after I come in contact with things. Today, I tried a new toothpaste that is suppose to help with sensitivity, however, after brushing with it, my entire bottom front gum as become sore. Can anyone help me understand what might be wrong? Going to an actual dentist to diagnose me is not really an option at the moment.

well it sounds like the nerve of that tooth is dying. that why your getting the "grey" color to it, thats why it is hurting with cold stuff.

your probably brushing a little to hard. you should get some sensodyne tooth paste, put a little pit on you finger tip, massage it into the gum of the tooth that is bothering you and let is absorb, dont rinse it out.....that should help with the sensitivity but you need to see a dentist before things start to get alot worse and you get an infection or something.

sounds like you need a root canal and a crown dear, why cant you see a dentist?

money issues?...FYI most dentist will do payment plans, or you can apply for CareCredit
