I had a fistula for about a year....

Dear Help,

I had a fistula on my gum for a year, about 1 month ago it drained and has not reoccured.  However, I am recently experiencing sharp, long lasting bouts of pain in the jaw and teeth where the fistula was.  It is not effected by hot or cold, but anything sugary iritates it. It is just pain that lasts most of the day only subssiding sometime in my sleep through the first couple of hours of the day.  I do not have insurance, and can't afford to go to the dentist, is there anything I can do to kill the pain?

Sincerely,

IN PAIN

It seems that you have an infection in the bone in which the pus resulting from the infection is draining out of the fistula.  Once that fistula closed, the buildup of pus and pressure in the jaw is causing severe pain.  You should see a dentist to relieve that pressure as soon as possible.

Seeing a dentist is advised.
