IMPLANT INFECTION

IMPLANT INFECTION

I got an implant about a year and a half ago.
The crown was put in about 6 months ago. I was fine, till one day I could not chew on the implant anymore, cause it hurt. I thought it was because the crown was getting lose, since I could feel it move. I went to the dentist who put the implant, and he first said the screw was probably lose since the tooth was moving, then he said there was an infection around the implant that he didn't know what caused it. He said I MUST remove the implant, let it heal and reinsert the implant. HELP!!!!
I don't know what to do.. I really don't want to go through the process of implant and going aruond without a tooth again.
This is in one of my lower molars. I brush my teeth 3 times a day, floss and use mouthwash! I really do take care of my teeth, I don't understand how I could have an infection.
The dentist said your body just got the infection!!!!
what should I do!??!

If the implant is moveable and loose, then there is something wrong with the bone that is surrounding the implant most likely.  In that case, it is important to remove the implant and allow the area to heal as keeping the implant will cause further bone loss and spread of infection.

I'm not sure as to the cause of the infection.  You may want to post this question in the Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery section and discuss it with the oral surgeon.
