Immediate partial denture problems

I just had 7 upper teeth removed. My teeth were in a real mess - one of the front side teeth was a temporary that turned yellow over time and the other front side tooth broke in half. I have been saving up for ages to get this fixed. I got all the bad teeth removed last Thursday and got my partial upper denture fitted right after.
There are big gaps between the top of each tooth and my gums as well as the fact that the new 'teeth' on the denture are quite large (my original teeth were quite small) so I think I look really weird.  Also one of the new 'teeth' is crooked and when I asked the denturist about it he said that that is the way it has to be because of the bone.  My teeth were not crooked before?  I'm really depressed because the denturist doesn't seem to care that I'm not happy.  I didn't want to open my mouth in public before and I don't want to now either, and I've just dropped $1600!!  What can I expect a good denturist to do?

Where are you located?  In the US, we don't have an option to see a denturist as dentures are made by a dentist with the help of a dental lab.  If you aren't happy with the denture, unfortunately, you need to discuss the issue with him/her.  I'm not sure what options you have in terms of filing a complaint or asking for a new set of dentures (or adjustments).  It may take some time for the area to heal to fit better but the cosmetics may need to be adjusted meanwhile.
