In need of help- every tooth in my mouth shifting

2012 july- crowns were put on 15& 17 at the same time- complained for a year that my bite was off 17 digging into cheek- had to shift to the right to gain occlusion. Not remedied, dentist proceeded july 2013 and put crown on 16. It felt tight. and followed the same outward angle. September 2013 dentist said i needed to replace a crown on implant site 26 to stabilize my jaw. it wasn't bothering me. It was excruciatingly tight, started to shift all my upper teeth inwards and to the right and off center. he refused to take it off.then teeth around 16 went inwards as well. developed severe speech impediment. the uppers moved inwards and forwards, and then pulled all my lowers inwards on the sides, and now my front lowers are being pulled inwards.Went through mind numbing pain for over 4 months and still in pain6 months later teeth still moving, Teeth turned grayish, spaces everywhere no gum symetry, can barely speak and eat, finally found a dentist who "doing you a favor" and took of implant crown 26. My face and lips sunk in and my chin has shortened. I look like i have no teeth, and impossible to gain occlusion without pushing other teeth.
I went to a prosthodontist and he said he couldn't help me, and didn't know anyone to recommend. I'm still in shock and in the middle of a nervous breakdown. The oral surgeon wouldn't touch me either, and said she's never seen anything like it. No one either knows what to do or won't touch me. I'm in Canada but will come to the States if I can find someone that will help me either fix my teeth, or give me something so i can look and function normally. Please I'm desperate......

No no one will help me. I cannot even find a dentist to provide routine care the situation is so bad it's critical. I think it's going to kill me. My skull/teeth are still moving and it has caused  a massive amount  of other problems. I'm desperate for help.

Well, I found out something about what is wrong.
It seems I had forgotten to mention on my first post, that not only was the implant crown on 26 way too tight when he placed it, the dentist then pushed down on it forcefully several times (he told me he was going to try and move and reposition the implant post that another dentist put in 5 years earlier) It seems that this is what set off the chain reaction of teeth movement and /or bone loss and movement/that is happening still to this day.
CT Scan July 2014-
Diagnosis : Left cranial lesion. The suture line in my maxilla was pushed, and the maxilla looks broken. It's like having cranial scoliosis- and my face nose and chin are all contorting to this moment.
Bone loss and remodelling. Locked jaws, misaligned jaws, crossbite, and cant.

TO this very day---The maxilla and top teeth seem to be caving inwards and downwards. Whenever I try to find a bite, my bottom teeth are then pulled inwards. I;ve had bone loss throughout my face, as well as bone remodeling due to abnormal habitual occlusion (forced fixed malocclusion is what I call it) The teeth are now virtually nonfunctional.

The top ones position over my tongue, and the bottom teeth are underneath my tongue. The chin and jawline are gone. Painful massive speech impediment, Difficulty swallowing, choking, deviated septum and difficulty breathing all of which are worsening.
Now my TMJ's are being pushed and pulled by the increasing jaw misalignment with ear pain and deficits.
Flabby wrinkles from caved in face. Looks like I have no teeth in my mouth, when I used to have a perfect looking set and beautiful smile and face. Cheeks are caved in so far one whole side is chewed, with the worsening cant in my jaw.

To this day NO one dental practitioner is willing to help me. Not even the suggestion of a pain killer.
Many wont  even acknowledge what they see. Refuse to look at the CT or even read the report. Refuse to look at before/after pictures.  Then Tell me that my midline is aligned perfectly.  I learned what happened from one dentist who ordered the 3DCT Scan, (which I had begged others to do prior, and been refused).
That dentist said to me "no one else will help you will they, no orthodontist etc... he wanted to make a hybrid appliance to try and torque my maxilla. I was advised not to do it by several.  Most were shocked when I conveyed the diagnosis, wanting to know "who told you that?"
One dentist office went so far as to call me and ask if his office was in Georgetown. Then when I called him back to make the appliance he refused, saying go to an orthodontist.  Well he already knew no one else would help. Wonder if he had a call from  the other dentist?

I went to emergency dept. The pain and extreme discomfort is driving me crazy. I cant believe my heart has taken so much stress.  My BP skyrocketed. They refused to call in oral maxillofacial surgeon to look, instead telling me," go to a dentist and get your jaw fixed".
I told them that's what I was trying to do and no one would help, The doctor walked away from me refusing to order a CT scan... as I followed him down the hall asking for one.

If anyone at all, anywhere in the world thinks they know of someone that might be willing and able to help, please let me know.
They are rebuilding faces nowadays, and I think I need that now.
It's killing me and I don't want to die a preventable death- because of my teeth!!! Where is the humanity? Please someone help................

Did you ever find the answers you seek and help to get better?

Karen,
I hope you are doing alright. I am still in limbo. I am back on Clindamycin and had two wisdom teeth extracted to see if they may have been causing an infection. Probably was not the most intelligent thing to do right now, but I did it. Jkarenk, have you have a bone scan? Not a dexa scan but a bone scan. You may need to find out whether this could be osteonecrosis or osteomyelitis. Neither are good and are difficult to treat and diagnose if no one is working with you. Although I am not in the medical field this is just my opinion. I will be going for a bone scan very soon as I am just waiting on my physicians office. I have bone problems and have had bone problems since I was a child and never had a true diagnosis except for an old bone scan that stated suspicious for hypertrophic osteoarthropathy. I am also in severe mouth pain with movement of the jaw and teeth. The antibiotic works temporarily. Which leads me to believe a jaw infection. This can happen for many reasons. Please seek out a bone scan. They are a pain as you have to wait for the radiation to move through your body for 2-4 hours and then they scan you. It is no big deal just time consuming. The radiation is nothing to fear. The just tell you to drink plenty of water so you pass it quickly through urine. I am doing this locally and hope they are efficient regarding their expertise reading the scan. I usually go to a large teaching hospital in Philly. But can't do the drive anymore. Sorry for the late reply. I will check my mailbox now to see what your post was prior and will reply again as necessary. I will keep you posted as to what results of scan was. I know there is something wrong with the jawbone. I recommend a teaching university in Canada specializing in maxillofacial treatment. Have you been on Clindamycin for bone infections yet? Clindamycin is also known as Cleocin. Not sure what it is called in Canada. Caution regarding Clindamycin as it can cause C-difficile. Please read up on it before acquiring a script. Again, this is strictly my opinion as I am not in the medical field. I hope you are holding up as I know this is a living nightmare and the fear of what is happening is unbelievable. Ronnie.

Just received your response. I hope you are ok. Karen, the medical profession in a funny breed and that is all I will say. I am aware that you need help with this situation. You did talk about coming to the States for assistance and if you are unable to get anyone in Canada to do the patch up work that may be needed.

I know how doctors/dentists can make you angry but they will cover their own butts as required. A cool head will need to prevail if you are going to get assistance in your country. Today, things are different than they used to be as there are very few stand up professionals today and very sad for us.

Please attempt to go to a University hospital with a dentistry clinic available if you can. You have been prescribed two nasty drugs, I know them well both of which can affect the jaw bones. Not good. Aladronate and prednisone. Medical is all about getting the money out of the people and it is no longer compassionate care. I have a bone disorder that they have refused to identify most of my life since I was a child. My bone scan in 2008 was suspicious for hypertrophic osteoarthropathy. No one told me squat. What to do, what not to do. So, I find myself in this pickle as well. It is horrific. My bite is like a sponge. When I bite down on anything there is a spongy sensation with pain and shifting. The antibiotic must be decreasing the inflammation associated with this. But in my case they are saying bruxism, stress, I even thought that or wanted to believe it but no this is not stress. Finding a diagnosis for anything today is hell. Do you have a support system to go with you? I hope so as it is needed. No, Karen no one wants to get involved like the ortho said. We are on our own, my friend. If you need a recommendation for a place in the States let me know. I understand your pain believe me. I now need to fight for another bone scan not a dexa but a bone scan as my spine is involved and all of my other joints as well. I have had two spinal surgeries and the spine will be the next to collapse. Too much pain. Please let me know what I can do to help. I wish you all the best and hope you can deal with the frustration and pain. Sincerely,
Ronnie

I wrote you a long reply, and now when checking back, do not see it here.Did you receive it? If not I will have to write again when I get a chance.
We have several things in common. In the meantime, you might want to research " bite collapse" and  "collapsed dental arch"
I think either thing can happen with the movement of teeth. I am 54 and was recently prescribed Alendronate for osteopenia found on a bone scan. Also took prednisone for 6 weeks last summer and am now on immunomodulators for RA. I have noticed facial/lip collapse, aging my looks and smile which was my best asset as well. My lips feel like they float around my teeth. My teeth along the gum line look like they are going to "pop out" with white and red marks on the gum leading to the teeth. The teeth are still squeezing inwards like vice grips on the top, pulling the bottoms in when I bite down as a result. I think that process caused me to have bone loss and shortening of my chin/jaw. I don't look the same.
I think youre doing the right thing by going to the university dental school. From my experience, if a dentist has made a mistake, good luck getting acknowledgement from another dentist, it just won't happen, and they say all kinds of things to deny that the dentist actions had anything to do with what is happening to your teeth and mouth/face. Eg grinding/ TMJ, aging, occlusive dyskenesia because of all the nerve endings in lips and mouth and their sensitivity to change. Really? Well if there was no change taking place after dental work, we wouldn't get it!
Public be forewarned. If your dentist does something that is not right with you, IMMEDIATELY PUT IT IN A LETTER AND GIVE IT TO HIM in writing. Don't let him stall you , as mine did. Especially if he is not addressing your complaint as mine did not.  If he does not remedy, write down your complaint and give that to another dentist as fast as possible. Otherwise the next dentist may chart your complaint as being something other than what you told them, to cover up for the first dentist.
I insisted that my tight crowns was the cause of my pain and tooth shifting, and both dentist charted that I had complaints of jaw joint pain, TMD,  when in fact when they told me this, I argued with both to the contrary. They just refused to remove crowns which were the root cause of everything, to deny responsibility. I had a TMD assessment and it was fine. No surprise to me there. That specialist made a comment as to "it is difficult for a dentist to make crowns the right size" "many of your teeth may have moved many millimeters" he was right on both counts, but I still am unable to find someone that will remove crowns or provide treatment. The situation continues to worsen.
Every tooth in my mouth has been affected in a negative manner. I am shocked at the lack of ethical behavior I have experienced with the dental profession.
The second orthodontist I went to let it slip "I don't want to get invol" then I dont want to involve you in something with uncertain outcome", or to that effect. Instead of helping the patient, they let the problem worsen and you're left frantic trying to get help

Ok, I have been searching the internet for this same malady since the end of March. I am in a state of panic. We have the identical issue. I just have my last two wisdom teeth pulled last week thinking this was an infection of the wisdom teeth. BAD MOVE on my part. However, the oral surgeon said I had significant bone loss in the jaw. I won't tell you what I mumbled when he said that but I think he knew what I said. I live in Philadelphia and now know that I need to go to the Hospital of the University of Penn Dental School for help. I have been having strange Autoimmune Issues for years as well.

I do not know your age and I do not need to know. I am 56 now and have had bone problems since I was a child. I think I have avascular necrosis of the jaw. More or less, the jaw is deteriorating. The dental hygienist said she wished she had my bone level in my jaw. Yeah right, what does she know. The xray did not show what the oral surgeon could see when he yanked the wisdom teeth. Have you been or oral biophosphonates? You know, like Boniva? Or corticosteroids?

This is a stretch but have you heard of amyloidosis? I am being biopsied on Friday for Amyloid and Sjogrens Syndrome by an ENT at HUP. (see above for University). I am freaking out at this point. The dentist thinks this is bruxism. Lol. I wish. It feels like my gums are coming up and my bite rocks. The hygienist told me to stop pushing on my front teeth with my tongue. Where did this come from? I never did that in my life until I felt like I had a gum infection. My front teeth are becoming buck and my lower teeth are moving together and getting narrower and narrower. My front teeth started to gap until I went on Clindamycin. My teeth were always my best asset. I am resigned they are going to fall out like Chiclets. They are sloshing around in my mouth. So, it is just you and me in this entire world that has this? Wow. I was shocked when I read your post. It was as though I wrote it except you had some extensive dental work done recently.

The Clindamycin helps but remember antibiotics have anti inflammatory properties. Do You have any joint issues or dryness of your mouth and eyes? These are rhetorical questions and no need to answer of course. I am trying to help you which in turn helps me get my mind off my mouth. My daughter keeps making the statements of how awful my mouth is looking. Looks as though it is collapsing in on itself. All I can say is what else. I will keep you posted as to what is going on with me. It may be neuro like the one poster said. But it is definitely not psychological. I believe it is bone related.

In addition to telling me that he is "befuddled" the orthodontist told me today that he does not recommend braces at this time.
The upper teeth jutting/cutting into my tongue is driving me crazy. I can barely accommodate for their shifting, and my speech is getting worse.
I went to the oral surgeon and she refused to pull those teeth because of a speech impediment, in spite of the fact that I told her the facial collapse etc is still happening. I used to have a longish chin, and now it feels it almost meets the roots of my teeth on the inside because it has tilted upwards as well as shortened.

Would you be able to recommend somewhere that I might go to have an expert examination?
I am barely getting any validation as to what has happened and it is still happening with my teeth and face. A prosthodontist told me "you will never find a dentist in Canada that will say that happened to you in 4 months" I'm at the 7 month mark now, and the  upper teeth squeezing inwards and forward shift of upper teeth continues and speech impediment is getting worse. Today I was told at first glance that molds of my teeth don't look that different than before (they are off center and shifted over my tongue when looking at me) and the speech impediment may be caused by a swollen tongue. (Trying to minimize it) The tongue is swollen from the teeth jutting into it whenever I talk.!! All these dentists in Canada do is cover up for each other, and point out - oh the crowns look beautiful.. Right, except that they were so tight my dental arch seem to collapse during 4 months of intractable pain. They won't tell you what happened or even what is happening, don't want to provide care if another dentist has made a mistake.  Our insurance laws for dental are another reason. They would then have to defend their own position, and don't want to be involved in litigation.. Basically in Canada, if a dentist makes a mistake, a person is out of luck in receiving the truth or treatment from someone else. Dentist just let damage and pain continue after saying they are befuddled or don't know what to recommend.(That's what I've been told) That's the position I find myself in. Please help me.....

If your face does change after teeth migration, soft tissue profile which refers to your face, definitely will adapt to hard tissue, which refers to teeth and supporting alveolar bone.

Thank you. I'm scared because they have shifted to a huge degree. Do you think my face and lips will fill out again?
It started 6 months ago and they are still shifting inwards and forwards on the top and inwards on the bottom sides and backwards on the bottom front.
What about my chin that has all but disappeared? Do you think it's permanently changed? The sides of my jaw  and the front seem to have been pulled inwards with from the bottom teeth being pulled inwards.   Thank you

If teeth do shift in a short period of time, straighting up can be achieved by orthodontic intervention.

I looked it up and that seems to be more of psychological or neurological problem. It has been confirmed that those upper right crown's are out of alignment and that the implant crown 26 pushed all my teeth it's just that they haven't stopped moving there all squeezing inwards on the top and forwards. In doing so they pulled all my bottom teeth inwards on the sides and now they're pulling the front bottom teeth backwards. From what I read dysesthsia doesn't cause the physical changes that have taken place with my teeth. I think they've all been badly sprained just what to do about it is the problem.
It's horrific. A couple of dentists have a look at my teeth and said they've never seen anything like it happen. Another one said dentist make mistakes.
Just where to start to get some help? I am going to see a TMJ specialist soon.  Any other ideas? My x-rays and dental molds months before and after this trauma happened are proof that all My teeth have moved. Also speech impediment. All feedback is appreciated

Your descriptions suggest occlusal dysesthesia. Dental rehabilitation may not solve your problem. However, occlusal appliance therapy may help.seeing a competent tmj specialist is advised.if occlusal appliance does work, dental rehabilitation is warranted.
