Is Bone Grafting absolutely before getting a permanent bridge?

Is Bone Grafting absolutely before getting a permanent bridge?

I will be going to the dentist soon to get my front tooth removed and had a question about bone grafting. I am 33 years old and was given the option of bone grafting to replace the missing bone for tooth #8. At this point I have opted for a 3 tooth permanent bridge but I'm concerned about the significant bone loss I already have. I'm trying to decide whether or not to get the bone grafting done now (is it necessary?) or wait until sometime in the future. I have never had any major dental work done other than a root canal and pulled wisdoms. Is there a dentist out there that can give me some info?

If I do not have the grafting done now will the bone continue to recede? If it does, how far until it stops (will it create a hole between my gums to the sinus cavity?) What about the bone surrounding teeth #7 & 9, will their bone be affected by the lack of tooth #8?

What I really need to know is if this procedure as absolutely necessary right now. Like everyone else cost is a major concern, I'm already paying $3000 before the bone graft and membrane. Another $1000 right now would be very difficult, however I could find a way to pay for it if absolutely necessary.

Thank you!

Once a tooth is lost, alveolar bone tends to resorb significantly within 6 months. Bone graft tends to preserve alveolar bone, bone resorption is much less than without bone graft. Preservation of alveolar bone yields more cosmetic satisfaction for final restoration. Detailed consultation with your dentist is advised.
