Is it rare to get a cold sore and never get another one again

Is it rare to get a cold sore and never get another one again? so if it doesnt come back ever again or reappear in the same place does that mean it wasn't herpes?

No problem.

As far as I know, if it does reoccur, it tends to be along the same nerve but maybe not necessarily in the same spot.  Cold sores can occur on the location you indicated on the picture.  You can buy some cold sore medication in the store to help with the pain/discomfort.  Again, it is contagious if you pop it and it can infect other parts of your mouth.

Next time if you know/feel that it is coming on, you can go see your dentist/doctor immediately and get a prescription for an anti-viral which reduces the duration of the cold sore.  Unfortunately, it doesn't work quite as well once the cold sores appear.  But if its a once a year or less occurence, I wouldn't worry about it too much unless the symptoms are severe.  If it starts reoccuring frequently or spreads, again, go see your dentist.

Its possible to get a cold sore and never get one again although usually they tend to reoccur once a year to as frequently as once a month.

If you want a clear diagnosis of herpes, I would recommend that you see your dentist for a diagnosis.  Its possible you have had a canker sore instead.
