I've got bleeding gums?

I've a fairly healthy 35 year old guy, and just recently my gums started to bleed. At the start, they were just bleeding when I would brush them, but now it happens more frequently, outside of just brushing.

If anybody has any ideas what's going on with me, I'd love to have some light shed on the situation!

Hi,you probally need to go to the dentist and get your teeth cleaned then start flossing your teeth everyday, your gums may bleed for a few days when you start flossing then the bleeding should stop.If you have'nt been to the dentist for awhile-now would be a good time to make an appointment. It sounds like your gums are inflamed and a good cleaning would probally fix that.

Bleeding gums may indicate the start of gingivitis.  A thorough cleaning from your dentist is your best bet.  They can clean plaque from areas that you can't reach with a toothbrush.
The plaque gets down between the tooth and your gums and then becomes irritated.  As it releases bacteria, your gums start to bleed.

A dentist will clean all the plaque from those areas allowing your gums to heal and stop bleeding.

Please make an appt with your dental professional for an evaluation.  Gingivitis can and will progress to periodontal disease and in some people can do so rather quickly.

In the meantime, try just rinsing with warm saline along with your regular oral hygiene until you can get in to see your dentist.

Best to you and let us know how you do.
