Jaw / Facial Pain 5 months after Tootg extration??? Help !!

It all startet back in Jan. I startet getting pain back in a Tooth, fellt like a Filling had come loose. Being we were going on Vacation I wanted this fixed before we left. Called Dentist, got me in right away. Told me it was a cracket Tooth and that it would need a Crown. OK, no problem they would put in a Temp. Crown for the Vacation Time.
Went on vacation with 800 mg of Motrin and BIG amount of Antibiotics. To be taken while on vacation.I took them and was in so much Pain I lost 12 lbs on my vacation, I could not eat anything.
Went back to Dentist ,He statet please let us put on the real crown and see what happends. 2 Weeks later still severe pain,  This time I told him just pull, this was after almost 6 weeks of severe Pain. OK, he pulls the tooth difficult pulling of COURSE, bend Root. Went home got migraine, puked for 12 hrs,,, got infection in it. Back to Dentist, got that brown stuff to put in.
back to dentist, he cant find nothing wrong.Sends me to Specialist ,he tells me give it more time. This happend 5 Month ago.Pain in my Jaw and Ear and tooth (next to the one that got pulled) and hurts worse with cold hitting it, Rain weather change.

It is possible that after the extraction because of the shrinkage of the tissue the root structure of the adjacent tooth is exposed and this is the cause of the sensitivity.You would also have to consider checking for decay on this tooth and possible need for root canal therapy.

How bad was the crack? I had a hairline fracture in my back bottom molar - no one ever suggested a crown UNTIL they first tried to bond it, didn't work. Then a root canal.  I am still in the process of figuring out why the tooth still hurts BUT it does not hurt me NEARLY as much as it did before the root canal!

This pain is on the sides and is more like a pressure pain.  

It has been determined that I do NOT need a new root canal. Because my bite is so off - most likely the tooth in question is hurting because it is rotating and erupting.  It has no tooth above it to meet/hit.  The ligament on one side of the tooth is visibly thickened/inflammed on xray.  So this is either the reason for the pain OR it is the fracture that has worsened.

The dentist will try injecting an anti inflammatory into the ligament first to see if it decreases the pain - if that does not help, the tooth will be extracted.

See mine was pulled ..... I just couldnt stand the Pain anymore. I mean i couldnt even eat ramen Noodles, I had to tilt my head to eat so nothing would get over to the other side. I kid you not ! So when I got back I had them pull it. But that was 5 month's ago, I now had to go in to ANOTHER Specialist, not looking forward for that either.
But I be glad once they figure out what is wrong in there.

my face has been swollen and extremely painful since mid March.
i've been to regular dentist, oral and root canal dr's. all of which says
nothing shows on films to suggest it's my teeth.  my PCP had me take
brain/neck/sinus Ct scan which are not showing any reason for this.
i've found a facail specialist who originaly thought it to be a stone in
my gland on the left side, but again the Ct not showing evidence of it.
now thinking it's tendonisits as im on the phone all day working.
i've pre-diabetic so he can not give me a shot of cortizone.
sooo much pain i can't stand any more. thinking of acupunture
being done.    
if anyone can help i'd so apprectiate any info you may have.

I am a dentist in Germany and try to make sense out if cases like yours. There are lots of em. Unfortunately dental school nowadays is not prepared to answer your questions.

Let me suggest some search phrases, where you will get probably more specific info on your pain issue

1. neuropathic pain
2. phantom tooth pain
3. trigeminal neuropathy, it is not neuralgia!

The most likely therapeutic options are
1. Amitriptyline
2. Gabapentin
