Jaw and Inner Ear Pain from Yelling?

Jaw and Inner Ear Pain from Yelling?

Hello Doc,

I am looking for advice. I am an athletic coach who yells alot. Last year, I remember one incident where I yelled at one of my basketball players and I felt a pain to the front side of my right ear (actually knocking me down to one knee at the time). I thought I was having a stroke. I went to see neurologists and had an mri and nothing showed up. Since that incident I have had head aches and dizziness on and off for this past yr. I have noticed increased jaw pain that extends from my jaw near my earlobe up to the front/top side of my ear.

My question is what damage could have I caused in that yelling incident. I had no previous problems before it. Where do I go from here. Should I see a dentist or oral surgeon. Your comments are greatly appreciated!

sounds like you are grinding your teeth, or clenching, you may not be aware of it, most people grind in there sleep. It sounds like you are having muscle spasms in the jaw. You indicated you have pain from the jaw to the ear. Try to massage that area with your finger tips
this may help your pain. It sounds like a Dental problem you need a night guard for the grinding. You can also apply heat to the area. Good luck, lower your stress level.
