Jaw pain after extractions

by momichka, Feb 23, 2009 10:53AM
My fifteen year old son had all four wisdom teeth extracted on the same day.  The two lower were impacted and difficult to remove.  It has been one week and he is doing much better.  But he is having persistant pain on the left side of his lower jaw.  The pain is in the jaw below the 2nd and 3rd teeth away from the extraction.  The dentist did a full exray this am and said it looks great.  His sockets have healed nicely and are closed.  There was no evidence of dry socket.  He could not even irrigate the socket it was healed so well.  There is no appearance of cavities or problems.  He asked us to wait one more week.  The pain is pretty intense.  We are going to wait I am just wondering if anyone has heard of this or experienced it themselves.  It is not TMJ which he also has.  The pain is not in the back of the jaw or near his ears.  He has had problems with that as well.
