Jaw pain just started

Yesterday morning I woke up with a soreness on one side of my jaw. It felt very stiff and ached when I tried to open my mouth all the way. It seemed to go away throughout the course of the day because I forgot about it. But then I woke up with it again this morning and it's very painful to open my mouth wide. I've never had this before and I don't believe it'd have to do with any tooth problems. I've had my wisdom teeth removed years ago and the pain is way in the back of my jaw, not where my teeth are. I'm kind of nervous. What do you think this is?

Has anyone told you that you clench or grind your teeth at night?  You may be doing that and it may be putting some stress on your TMJ.  I would recommend going to a dentist to get it evaluated.  You may need to see a dentist who has advanced training in TMJ problems.
