A dental abscess can be a life threatening situation.  The abscess can spread through your head and down your neck into the chest area.  Worse scenario is that is spreads down into the neck and compresses your airway so you can't breathe or down into the chest and infects your heart.  Another bad possibility is that its goes up and spread throughout your head towards the brain.  If you feel that you have a dental abscess, the most important thing is to get it checked by a dentist and solve the problem before it worsens.
