Just had root canal done

I just had a root canal partially done yesterday- I have to go back in two weeks so they can finish it up.  The endodontist said that he did not want to do it in one visit.  It was not a bad experience what so ever- I am vary afraid of the dentist!  
I have a couple of questions:

My tooth still hurts when I bite down on it-how long should this go one for?

Can I floss that tooth and use listerine or should I wait a few more days?

The endontist said I should not chew on that side of my mouth- believe it or not, this is really hard to do- is this really necessary?

Should I avoid any certain foods or drinks until my root canal is totally done?

Dear Gina, It is not abnormal for the tooth to be sensitive after the RCT. I would suggest that if you  are touching the tooth with your normal bite that you see the dentist to take the tooth out of occlusion. It is difficult to avoid chewing on one side of your mouth, that is why the tooth has to be removed from your bite. I wouldn't floss it now. You can use a mouth wash if you are so inclined.

Did you have the novocane?  Did it bother your heartbeat and palpitations?

Hi!

I had the regualr novicaine-  the other one that they were giving me was not doing anything!  The endodontist was excellent. He had to shoot me many times with the novicaine. I have to go back in two weeks to finish it up.
