Leukoplakia

by allenjo, Sep 24, 2007 09:11PM
I'm a 26 year old male who quit smoking and drinking about a month ago.  My question is that I went to the dentist a few weeks ago and they told me I had moderate to severe gingivitis, and I asked him about a small white spot on the front lower gums and the doctor said it was just something called leukoplakia and that it would go away, and that was all he said.  Since then I looked up what it was online and was scared to find out it could be cancer. Since then I've had serious anxiety abou it.  My gums hurt around the spot, but my gums have the same type of pain in many other places too, from the gingivitis I assume.  So should I be this worried at this young of an age or will it just "go away" like the dentist said?
