Long Cut in my Gum

For some time I have been unaware of a long whole type of cut I can actually stick my tongue into in my gum area the lower part. I was raped in 1998 and given herpes 2 does this have some realation to my gum problem and what could be causing my extreme pain and what would you suggest.
