Lots of Baby Teeth at 26

Lots of Baby Teeth at 26

Hi,

I'm 26 years old and have known for quite some time that I would never develop any of my adult molars. About a year ago, a dentist that I was seeing told me it was because one of my incisors never developed and that caused all the teeth that were to develop after it to not develop. Is this true? Is there a name for this condition? A friend of mine wonders if maybe it was because I was born 7 weeks premature.

I know I'm facing having to have teeth taken out or them coming out on their own and having to replace them with implants or something like that. I just have way too many baby teeth for that not to happen at some point. If this is a condition then shouldn't the needed implants or whatever be covered by insurance?

Thanks

Your condition is known as anodontia, which is classified as complete or partial. The etiology is unknown. Heredity is believed to be involved.

so is it possible that this would be covered under insurance since it is a diagnosable (diagnosable?) condition?

Conventioal x-ray can reveal  how many teeth are congenital missing. I have no knowledge of dealing with insurance company.
