It may be cellulitis. The antibiotics may be preventing the spread of the infection but it won't resolve the underlying issue which is a bad tooth. You should have him see a dentist and probably extract or do a root canal on the bad tooth. It is extremely important to take care of it as the infection can spread and be life threatening.
does ur husband have throbbing pain?is his cheek warm to touch?if so he could have an abscess there and would need another round of antibiotics.but i would still see the dentist cause he might have cavity which the infection has gone down to the root of the tooth, taking antibiotics will rid of the lump(if it is an abscess)but it wont get rid of the underlying cause which could come back if the problem isnt treated
Glad to hear that its still possible to save the tooth. I hope things turn out for the better. It was a good educated guess. Its always easier to provide information when people give more information for me to work with in my head. =) Thanks for the great info.
Wow you hit the nail right on the head! He went to the dentist and it was an abcess from a cavaty at the bottom of the tooth. He is now taking amoxacilin for 7 days and is getting a r.c in a week. But they may extract it. they need him to come back in for a check up in a couple days. i guess because the tooth is crack under the crown and it may not be repairable. so we will see next week. wereally hope they can do a r.c instead of pulling the tooth. Thank you for your info! you were EXACTLY right!
